How to Backup the Windows Vista Registry

download1 How to Backup the Windows Vista RegistryTo keep your computer secure and prevent irreparable damage, you are going to have to run registry repair software on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, running registry scans without trying to back up your windows vista registry first is quite foolish.

If something bad were to happen to your “important” registry files, such as deletion for example, you might wind up causing severe damage to your computer’s hardware and internal systems.

Therefore, it is only wise to familiarize yourself with the basics of backing up a windows vista registry. Either that, or prepare for a plethora of different computer performance problems in the near future.

Because there is no automatic registry back-up feature with Windows Vista, you are going to have to do everything manually through the Registry Editor tool…..

Follow These Simple Steps To Back Up Your Registry

Go To The Start Menu, then Select “Run”. Once that window opens, type in regedit and click “OK”.

Once the Registry Editor tool appears, use the mouse to open the File Menu and then click Export.

When the new window opens up, type in the name of the back-up file. Once that is done, select “All”, or whatever option is necessary, in the section titled “Export Range”.

After all appropriate boxes are filled and options selected, hit save to create our registry back-up file.

In addition to a back up of your windows vista registry, you may also want to consider using the “System Restore” tool. This tool basically takes a freeze frame of your current system settings and stores the information for later use.

If, at a later date, the computer loses some stability or starts behaving erratically and/or unresponsive, the freeze frame can be used to return the computer to its last known working system configuration.

You should note that using the system restore tool reverses any changes that were made after the system “snapshot” was taken — Hence, any type of change, whether it was beneficial or harmful, will be totally undone.

For complete safety and virtually no worry, your best bet is to use a windows vista registry cleaner. With a reliable registry cleaner, not only can you back-up and restore your registry with just a few simple mouse clicks, but you can also eliminate registry errors with remarkable ease.

However, before getting any old registry repair software, make sure it is compatible with your Windows Vista operating system.
